Porsche to be released its new limited edition of the Boxster RS 60 Spyder in this year Bologna Motor Show in Italy. The model is Porsche’s elegy to the legendry Sixties model, The Type 718 RS 60 Spyder. The original Spyder holds a special place in Porsche’s motor sport history as it took on and beat rivals with more powerful engines in many super car races. The first overall victory came in 1960, where the RS won the 12 hours race of Sebring. Despite a string of wins followed, the Sebring event was considered a major milestone, since it was Porsche’s first ever victory in Manufacturers world championship.

The Boxster RS 60 Spyder celebrates Hans Herrmann and Olivier Gendebien’s historical triumph at Sebring. Since this is a special model, there are obviously a host of makeup changes that set it apart from a standard Boxster. The front aero kit, for instance, comes from Porsche’s Sport design package and sets to give the RS a typical new face. Then there are the huge 19inch wheels, which come as standard. The super sized wheels have been pushed further out of the arches by spacer plates to give the core more aggressive stance.

The standard color scheme is GT silver metallic with red roof and leather interior. You can also specify dark gray leather and black roof. The instrument binnacle has been de-cluttered with just a large rev-counter and two smaller circular dials echoing the look of purist racing machine. In fact, Porsche were so keen on getting the look right, they have gone to town with harmonizing the color schemes. The rear section of the seat backrest and roll bars, for instance, has been finished in GT silver metallic, to complement the silver seat belts. Then there is a silver placard on the glove compartment lid identifying that this car is a special edition.

The engine can give a power up to 303bhp and to make sure this power can be harnessed in a safe manner, the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) comes as standard. This electronic system offers continuous controlling of the damping force on each wheel based on the road conditions.

The limited new Boxster RS 60 Spyder will be released in the car markets in March 2008. The expected price of the car as the news reports will be about $61000.
