Mazda has been ramping up their vehicles’ performance and style as of late. The new 2009 Mazda Mazda 3 offers a beefier, brawnier look and power to match. The new model carries over from the revamped style of 2008, with only small modifications, though the new aggressive stance of the car is a wonderful touch. The Mazda Mazda 3 shares the same platform as the Ford Focus, though it comes in slightly longer than that aging line.

The updated engine and transmission pairing gives the 3 a much needed power boost, while the additional refinements add to the handling and the overall style of the vehicle. The engine is a 2.3-liter 4-cylinder, producing 160 horsepower. The optional 2.5-liter engine provides a modest amount of additional power that some consumers will find appealing.

The largest difference for the 2009 Mazda Mazda 3 is the exterior appearance. As mentioned, the stance of the vehicle is more aggressive than in previous years. This may be more than enough to carry the line over into the next decade, though the 2010 model is rumored to be even more upgraded. The new model offers 17-inch alloy wheels for enhanced looks and handling, coupled with the addition of fog lights for the I Touring Value package.

A power driver’s seat has been made standard in the Grand Touring package, and the all-new Touring Value package offers comfort, style and, of course, value. The new Mazda 3 has better than average fuel mileage, coming in at 29 mpg for the highway and 24 mpg for the city, with the 2.5-liter coming in just below those figures, though not by enough to blow an annual budget. Today’s gas prices may be easier to handle with fuel economy numbers like those.

Other additions have been made, as well. The Mazda Mazda 3 I Sport now has standard ABS, as well as side curtain and front side airbags. The entire line is also available in four new colors. Drivers can choose from Stormy Blue, Golden Sand, Copper Red or Metropolitan Gray, in addition to the standard array of colors carried over from previous model years.

A leather wrapped steering wheel, MP3 compatible radio and other interior enhancements make the 2009 Mazda Mazda 3 a likely candidate for younger drivers, as well as commuter vehicles.
