Preparing Your Vehicle for Transport
With an increasing number of people purchasing autos online and an economy that dictates frequent movement; there is a good chance that you will be faced with shipping your vehicle at some point. While professional shippers are experienced and reliable for the most part, there is always the possibility for something to happen on the road, so it is up to you to make sure all necessary steps are taken to protect your property. The following guidelines will help minimize the possibility of vehicular damage while in transport; as well as ensure collection of compensation should any damage occur.
Clean it out
It’s amazing how many people forget to remove their personal items from their cars. Removing all items from inside the auto, including the trunk, ensures the items remain in your possession, as well as reduces the chance of blemishes to the interior. An automotive carrier’s insurance won’t cover items left inside of a vehicle, and loose items can rattle around and cause damage that too will not be covered.
Wash It Off
Carefully wash and inspect the exterior of the vehicle. Make note of any existing damage. Photograph the car from all angles and document when the pictures were taken. In the unfortunate circumstance that damage does occur, this will give you evidence you need to file a claim.
