Honda keen on green future

Honda CRV concept

Honda has unveiled a target of having a hybrid vehicles represent 10 percent of the company’s global sales by the year 2010. The company’s president Takeo Fukui, revealed last week that Honda plans to build two new hybrid vehicles to compliment the Civic hybrid model which is already on sale in Japan, the United States and some parts of Europe.

A global hybrid model is expected to go on sale in 2009 and Honda envision worldwide sales of 200000 cars. The Japanese automaker hopes the model will make hybrid technology more affordable, so a cheaper asking price may well be attached to the model. The second model will be a hybrid sports car modeled on the CR-Z concept unveiled at last Tokyo Motor Show. The wraps will be taken off the new model soon at next Detroit Motor show during this January.
