The next Dodge Challenger SRT8

2009 Dodge challenger srt8

The original Challenger was launched in 1970 and had a short career of just four years. However, it nonetheless left a lasting impression, attracted a cult following and earned it a place in automotive hall of fame. The new Challenger is a thoroughly modern car, but with a stylishly retro body wrapped around it. It comes with modcons such as navigation system, keyless entry and a hand-free communication system and hard-drive memory systems.

Each 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 will feature a limited edition numbered dash plaque and carbon fiber mimicking strips will be common to the three exterior colors; Hemi orange, bright silver metallic and black crystal pearl coat.

The Challenger boasts a bold exterior design complementing the brand image, a race inspired interior and a widely praised Hemi power plant. Unlike the orginal, which had nice powertrain options, the new challenger will be pack a massive 425Bhp 6.1litre Hemi V8 engine. Thanks to the super power from the V8, the rocket coupe will move to 100KM/h from stall in less than six seconds and 0 to 160 then to 0 km/h in only 17 sec. The quarter mile time is less than 14 seconds, while the 100 km/h to 0 braking distance and the skid pad performance are about 100 feet and 0.88g correspondingly.

Mike Accavitti, director of Dodge and SRT global marketing at Chrysler LLC said that the new Dodge Challenger SRT8 was engineered to give customers everything they need in a modern powerful vehicle. The Challenger is expected to be the new rival of Ford Mustang as the car is much older, despite of the long waited Chevrolet Camaro should give it more of challenge. Finally, the new Challenger SRT8 price is expected to be about $38,000.
